Made with real butter and quality ingredients, fresh stroopwafels are best enjoyed soon, but with the right storage they keep beautifully. Here is how to keep them soft and fresh, whether on the counter, in the fridge or in the freezer.

In the fridge

The fridge is the best place for them. The cool environment preserves the freshness and flavour of the real butter and other ingredients. Kept in an airtight container, stroopwafels stay good for up to six weeks and are protected from picking up other fridge odours.

At room temperature

If you prefer to keep them out, stroopwafels stay fresh for about four weeks in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. An airtight container or sealed bag is essential to stop them going stale.

Bringing them back to fresh

Take refrigerated stroopwafels out about 30 minutes before eating so the caramel softens and the waffle reaches its best texture. Better still, rest one over a hot drink to make it warm and gooey again.

In the freezer

For longer storage, stroopwafels freeze well for up to three months in a freezer-safe airtight container or bag. Thaw them at room temperature over a few hours, and a brief warm-up in the microwave or oven brings back that fresh-baked quality.

Our tins and packs are built to keep stroopwafels fresh and travel-ready, browse them in the webshop, or read how they are made in our guide to how stroopwafels are made.
