Cookie Policy

Last updated: 16 June 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Melly's Stroopwafels uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It tells you what cookies are, which ones we use and why, and how you can manage or withdraw your consent at any time. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, you can reach us at info@mellyscookiebar.nl or +31 20 423 4797, or write to us at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 141, 1012 RJ Amsterdam.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit it. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time.

Some technologies work in a similar way without using a traditional cookie. For example, our shop saves the contents of your basket in your browser using local storage (under the key mellys-cart-v1) instead of a cookie. We treat these technologies the same way as cookies in this policy.

Cookies can be set by us (first-party cookies) or by third parties whose services we use, such as Google. They can also be temporary (session cookies, deleted when you close your browser) or persistent (stored for a set period).

Which cookies do we use?

Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the website to work and cannot be switched off. They keep your shopping session active, remember the items in your basket and support secure checkout through our payment provider Mollie. Because these cookies are essential, we do not ask for consent to use them.

Functional cookies. These remember choices you make to give you a better experience, such as your language preference (English or Dutch). They do not track you across other websites.

Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website so we can improve it. These cookies collect information such as the pages you visit and how long you stay, and they are only placed after you give consent.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not build advertising profiles. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Consent for analytics cookies

Strictly necessary and functional cookies are placed because they are needed for the website to work properly. Analytics cookies are different: they are only loaded after you actively give your consent.

This means Google Analytics does not start collecting information until you agree to it. Until then, you can browse and shop on our website without any analytics tracking.

We also use Google Search Console to see how our website performs in Google search results. This tool works with aggregated search data and does not place tracking cookies on your device.

Managing and withdrawing your consent

You can change your mind at any time. If you have accepted analytics cookies and want to withdraw your consent, you can do so through the cookie settings on our website or by clearing the cookies in your browser.

You can also control cookies directly in your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and warn you before new ones are set. Look in the settings or help section of your browser (for example Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge) for instructions.

Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working, such as your shopping basket or the checkout.

Third parties

We use Google Analytics, provided by Google, to measure how our website is used. Google may process this data on our behalf and in line with its own terms. You can read how Google handles data in its privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Our payments are handled by Mollie, which may set cookies needed to process your payment securely and to prevent fraud. Our website is hosted on Vercel and our order confirmation emails are sent through Resend; these providers support the technical operation of the shop.

We choose our partners carefully and, where required, have agreements in place so they only process your data for the purposes we have agreed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add a new tool or when the law changes. The most recent version is always the one published on this page.

When we make significant changes, we will ask for your consent again where this is required.

For more information about how we handle your personal data, including your rights under the GDPR (Dutch AVG) and how to contact the supervisory authority Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, please see our Privacy Policy.
