Warm on the iron, the original way

The original stroopwafel comes from the Netherlands, and we make ours the proper Dutch way. We press the batter fresh on a hot iron, split the waffle and fill it with warm, slow-cooked caramel so it bends without breaking. That is why a Melly's stroopwafel tastes nothing like the ones in a supermarket packet.

What is a stroopwafel?
A stroopwafel is two thin waffle layers pressed warm around a soft caramel filling. It is a Dutch classic, best eaten warm. We explain it in full in our guide to the stroopwafel.
Are your stroopwafels freshly baked?
Yes. We press and fill our stroopwafels warm on the iron throughout the day, so you can enjoy a fresh one in the centre of Amsterdam.
Do you have vegan and gluten-free stroopwafels?
Yes. Alongside the original we offer a vegan stroopwafel with no egg or milk, and a gluten-free option, so most diets are covered.
Which toppings can I choose from?
We finish stroopwafels with toppings like salted caramel, Biscoff, milk chocolate, hazelnut, Oreo, marshmallow, coconut and Smarties, plus rotating specials. The original is served plain with caramel.
